WHO WE ARE  >  OUR BIOGRAPHIES

DR. NANCY CURRAN

Dr. Nancy Curran’s interest in holistic medicine began in veterinary school with a trip to China for a seminar in Traditional Veterinary Acupuncture. After graduating from Cornell University Veterinary School in 1996 she moved from NY to Portland to begin her veterinary career. Here in the Pacific Northwest she fell in love with both her partner and the city of Portland. She became certified in veterinary acupuncture in 1998 and operated an acupuncture housecall practice to serve patients with mobility issues from musculosketelatal problems as well as those in need of hospice care. She joined Hawthorne Veterinary Clinic in 2000 allowing her to practice holistic medicine on a much wider scale and to pursue extensive training in Chinese herbs, western herbs, chiropractic, and homeopathy. In fall of 2008 she opened her dream clinic, Two Rivers Veterinary Clinic, to provide the best in alternative, complimentary and conventional therapies to her patients. She believes that as a holistic vet, it’s essential to look at the potential value of all the treatments at our disposal and to integrate the alternative with the conventional with the goal of achieving the best care possible. Nancy lives with her partner Amber and their three cats, Scotty, Tyler and Bradley. Nancy has a deep appreciation for Portland as a community oriented city committed to sustainability with great access to magnificent natural beauty. She and her partner enjoy trips to the coast and Mt Hood, cycling, hiking, gardening and eating really good food.

DR. JORDAN NUCCIO

Dr. Jordan Nuccio knew from an early age that she would work with animals and their people. During vet school at Tufts University Veterinary School in Massachusetts she began to realize that the conventional approach to veterinary medicine wasn't always enough. "While I highly value the diagnostics and treatments available to us these days in conventional veterinary medicine I believe that sometimes we can overlook the uniqueness of each animal by labeling it with a diagnosis and treating it as such." During her last year in vet school after spending a rotation mentoring with an integrative veterinarian and faculty member at Tufts she found the balance that she was looking for between high quality medicine and individualized treatment plans which borrowed from multiple modalities. She became certified in veterinary acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) immediately upon graduation from vet school and is in the process of completing certification in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine by IVAS. When not at Two Rivers Veterinary Clinic she can be found as a volunteer veterinarian at the Audubon Wildlife Care Center where she works to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife, or at home with her new little baby boy, her husband, two dogs and two cats.
