Wellness Care Tailored to Your Pet

Wellness Care Tailored to Your Pet

Every pet is unique, we never employ a generalized approach to pet healthcare. All Two Rivers patients receive customized wellness care, tailored to your pet’s individual needs. Integrative medicine combines fast acting conventional treatment with long-term alternative therapies to build a truly holistic medical program.

We begin by conducting a detailed interview that determines your pet’s overall wellbeing, explores their medical history and establishes important health baselines. Our veterinarians take this time to discuss additional patient-specific information like age, exposure risk and prior injuries. We may ask questions about your pet’s temperature preference, thirst. appetite, energy, stool quality, behavior and sleep habits.

Next is a comprehensive physical exam of your pet’s eyes, ears, mouth, heart and lungs, abdomen, muscular/neurologic systems, skin and coat. We often use examination of the tongue and palpation of the pulse to help determine an underlining imbalance from a Chinese medical perspective.

Then we build a preventative care plan that includes:

  • Checking stool samples for parasites
  • Testing vaccine titers for Parvo and Distemper antibody levels
  • If indicated,
    • comprehensive blood work
    • vaccines
    • parasite prevention
    • microchipping
    • dental cleanings and treatment of dental disease
  • We also discuss the potential benefit that herbs, supplements, acupuncture and chiropractic care may have for the health of your pet depending on our findings.

We want to keep your healthy pet as healthy as possible. We know how important it is to use yearly exams as an opportunity to screen for health issues that your pet may not be making obvious to you. We also think of the yearly exam as a chance to make sure all your questions about your pet’s care are answered in a way that makes sense to you.
